Bill on preventing dual citizenship put on VR agenda

The Verkhovna Rada has put on the session’s agenda the draft law, No.6175, on amendments to the law “On the citizenship of Ukraine” regarding the right to change citizenship.
A total of 234 MPs supported the relevant decision, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.
The initiator of the draft law is President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko.
The bill has been developed to improve the procedure for legal termination of citizenship of Ukraine in case of the voluntary acquisition by a national of Ukraine the citizenship of another state and to prevent dual citizenship of individuals acquiring the citizenship of Ukraine.
