Head of EU Delegation to Ukraine: Delay in establishment of anti-corruption courts to affect EU-Ukraine relations
Head of the Delegation of the European Union to Ukraine Hugues Mingarelli has stated this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.
"We still believe that the fight against corruption requires the establishment of new anti-corruption courts. It is well known that a large number of Ukrainian judges are not independent, and if the Ukrainian authorities really want to ensure the rule of law in the country, as declared, the anti-corruption courts should be established," he said.
Mingarelli stressed that slowing down the fight against corruption was unacceptable. "If the fight against corruption slows down, this will obviously affect our relations. We will be less active in our relations with Ukraine, and they will not be so strong without the decisive fight against corruption. This will also affect the desire of our enterprises to invest in Ukraine," the Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine said.
