KYIV, February 5 /UKRINFORM/. Amendments to the presidential election law passed ahead of the voting day should not be applied on Sunday, February 7, Co-Rapporteur of the PACE Monitoring Committee in Ukraine Renate Wohlwend said in an interview with Deutsche Welle, UKRINFORM reported, citing the official website of presidential candidate Yulia Tymoshenko.

Wohlwend expressed hope that the amendments would not be put into practice, although the law had been signed by Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko.

She said that she planned to meet with representatives of the Central Election Commission to clarify how the commission was planning to interpret the amendments in the regions.

"I have a fear that as a result of legal disorder, Ukrainian courts will become the most burdened courts in Europe," Wohlwend said.
