Shmyhal says damaged TPP-5 and TPP-6 in Kyiv to be restored within two days

According to Suspilne, Shmyhal stated this on February 12 during a meeting of the Committee on Energy and Housing and Communal Services, Ukrinform reports.

"There were impacts from debris on TPP-5 and TPP-6 in Kyiv. This caused damage to the gas distribution and gas compression equipment at one TPP. At the other, circulation pumps and water circulation pipelines, part of the water preparation system, were damaged. For TPP-5, we hope everything will be restored within a day, for TPP-6 it may take about two days to restore," Shmyhal said.

He noted that the situation is better compared to previous attacks: the current positive temperatures in Kyiv allowed utility workers not to drain the heating system, so it won't be necessary to spend an additional two weeks fixing leaks and reconnecting buildings.

"The system is filled with water. In one or two days we will repair the equipment at the TPPs, and heating will be restored to the buildings," he promised.

As Ukrinform reported, in Kyiv, due to a combined Russian missile and drone attack on the night of Thursday, February 12, nearly 2,600 high-rise buildings were left without heat.
