Unknown individuals hang Ukrainian flags on fence of Chamber of Deputies Speaker Okamura house in Czech Republic
According to Ukrinform, Radio Prague International reported this on its website.
It was noted that blue-and-yellow flags were also drawn with chalk and paint on sidewalks, stairs, columns, and trash bins. Law enforcement authorities are investigating the incident.
Meanwhile, a group called Sametovi pametnici (Velvet Witnesses) sent an email to the Czech national news agency CTK, in which the activists claimed responsibility for what happened near Okamura's house. They explained that their actions were motivated by a desire to express dissatisfaction with the behavior of state representatives. Okamura himself criticized the activists' actions.
He stated that it is sad that some activists mark the Czech national holiday in a way that destroys state and private property.
As reported, earlier in November, the new speaker of the Czech lower house of parliament, Tomio Okamura, removed the Ukrainian flag that had been flying on the building since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion. Instead, three blue-and-yellow flags were placed there.
