Poll: 30% of Donetsk region residents support Ukraine’s joining NATO

Ukraine's accession to NATO is supported by 30 percent of residents of Donetsk region.

Pavlo Zhebrivsky, the chairman of the Donetsk Regional Military and Civil Administration, posted this information on his Facebook page referring to the results of the poll which was conducted by the Ilko Kucheriv Democratic Initiatives Foundation.

"30 percent of Donetsk region residents support Ukraine's accession to NATO. This number is thrice as much as in Luhansk region, where only 10 percent of the population support joining NATO," Zhebrivsky wrote.

In addition, according to sociologists, 32 percent of Donetsk region population support Ukraine’s joining the European Union (as contrasted to 14 percent in Luhansk region). Almost every third resident of Donetsk region (29%) positively perceives the idea of introducing a visa regime with Russia (as contrasted to 10 percent in Luhansk region).
