The Canadian military training mission in Ukraine UNIFIER gives an excellent opportunity for mutually beneficial relationship.

The Commander of the Canadian Army, Lieutenant-General Paul Wynnyk, stated this during his official visit to Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“In speaking with our soldiers, the Army Sergeant Major, Chief Warrant Officer Alain Guimond and I were told time and again of the deep appreciation our members have to be a part of this significant mission. This is a mutually beneficial relationship where, in addition to providing training to Ukrainian soldiers, we are also learning from our Ukrainian counterparts based on their recent experiences,” Wynnyk said.

According to him, this visit “further solidifies the Canadian Army’s already strong relationship with the Ukrainian Armed Forces.”

“I’m extremely proud of the men and women of the Canadian Army who have displayed outstanding professionalism in supporting our partner,” he stressed.

The Defense Ministry of Canada also assured of further support for Ukraine on its way of key reforms.

“Canada is unwavering in its support to Ukraine, both in helping to preserve and protect Ukraine’s sovereignty, and in providing assistance to Ukraine to implement key reforms,” reads the report.

As Ukrinform earlier reported, Canada in march 2017 officially announced that it would extend its military training mission in Ukraine until the end of March 2019.
