International and European Federations of Journalists call for immediate release of Sushchenko, Semena
The International and European Federations of Journalists (IFJ and EFJ), together with other human rights groups, call for the immediate release of Ukrainian journalists Mykola Semena and Roman Sushchenko illegally held in Russia.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) will call for the release of illegally detained Ukrinform correspondent Roman Sushchenko in Moscow and termination of the persecution of Ukrainian journalists in the occupied Crimea.
The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry has confirmed that Ukrinform correspondent Roman Sushchenko, who was illegally arrested in Moscow on September 30, is not a staff employee of the Defense Intelligence.
At the PACE session in Strasbourg in January, the Ukrainian delegation will raise the issue of illegal detention of Ukrinform journalist Roman Sushchenko and illegal imprisonment of filmmaker Oleg Sentsov in Russia, as well as persecution of Crimean journalist Mykola Semena and Crimean Tatar media in Crimea.
