Russian propaganda invents death of eight Ukrainian soldiers in Sudan

The source of the information is a Yemeni site which does not have such report

Leading Russian state media, z-Telegram channels and a Bulgarian news portal are spreading information about an alleged shootout between the Ukrainian military and the Sudanese armed forces in Sudan. As a result, eight Ukrainian and 10 Sudanese soldiers allegedly died.

The conflict is reported to occur because of "Ukrainians' support for Israel's strikes on the Gaza Strip." The propagandists refer to the "Sudanese media outlet" Al-Mashhad Al-Yemeni.

This is fake. The official website of Al-Mashhad Al-Yemeni has no such report published either on October 15, when the Russian mass media began to spread this "news", or on October 14 or before.

All active hyperlinks placed on the sites of Russian resources lead simply to the homepage of Al-Mashhad Al-Yemeni, not to specific material.

Al-Mashhad Al-Yemeni is not a "Sudanese media outlet", but a Yemeni one (https://www.almashhad-alyemeni.com/section~1). This is clear even from the name.

So, Russian propagandists simply invented the news about the death of Ukrainian soldiers in Sudan and referred to a little-known Yemeni site that does not have any information about it.

The Ukrainian service members were indeed in Sudan in the spring of 2023. Then about 10 special agents of the Main Directorate of Intelligence conducted a unique special operation in the territory of Sudan, from which more than 60 Ukrainians were taken out.
