Firefighting efforts continue in Chornobyl Exclusion Zone in Kyiv region

Firefighting efforts are underway in the Exclusion Zone of the Kyiv region to extinguish a large-scale forest fire covering 1,200 hectares.

According to Ukrinform, the State Emergency Service reported this on Facebook.

“As of 10:00 a.m., the fire has spread across 1,200 hectares—dry weather and strong gusts of wind are contributing to the fire’s spread,” the statement reads.

A total of 326 people have been deployed to fight the fire, including 211 rescuers from the State Emergency Service.

The State Emergency Service notes that the situation is fully under control.

As reported by Ukrinform, the fire in the Chornobyl Exclusion Zone currently poses no radiation threat.
