Unknown drone crashes on military unit territory in Poland

The Polish Military Police is investigating the crash of an unmanned aerial vehicle of unknown origin on the territory of the 1st Air Cavalry Battalion of the Polish Armed Forces, located in the town of Leźnica Wielka in the Łódź voivodeship (central Poland).

This was reported on the social media X by the Polish military police, according to Ukrinform.

“The Military Police Department in Łódź is investigating an incident involving a small UAV that crashed on February 6 on the territory of the 1st Air Cavalry Battalion in Leźnica Wielka without causing any damage. An investigation is currently underway at the scene,” the statement said.

In another post, the military police reminded the citizens that, under the aviation law, flying aircraft over military areas and facilities is a crime punishable by up to 5 years' imprisonment.

This is the second case of a UAV falling on the territory of a military unit in Poland in the last few days. The previous case occurred on January 28 on the territory of the 2nd Radioelectronic Reconnaissance Center, located in the town of Przasnysz in the Mazowieckie voivodeship (northeastern Poland). After investigating the incident, the military police reported that it was a toy drone that posed no threat.

As reported by Ukrinform, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said during a press conference in Kyiv that Poland is ready to transfer its MiG-29s to Ukraine in exchange for Ukrainian drones. At the same time, Warsaw will take Ukraine's priorities into account: Missiles for air defense systems are currently more important to Kyiv.
