Car explosion in Kyiv classified as terrorist attack

A car explosion that occurred in the courtyard of a residential building on Heroiv Dnipra Street in Kyiv on January 4, when the trunk was opened, has been classified as a terrorist attack, and a pre-trial investigation has been launched.

That is according to the Kyiv City Prosecutor's Office, Ukrinform reports.

As a result of the explosion, a serviceman sustained shrapnel wounds. A woman who was nearby was not injured.

A pre-trial investigation has been opened under Part 1 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (terrorist attack), defined as committing an explosion or other actions that posed a danger to human life or health.

As previously reported, an SUV exploded in Kyiv's Obolonskyi district, leaving several people injured.
