Rainstorm leaves 8,000 households in blackout across Kyiv region

Due to adverse weather conditions, power supplies were cut to nearly 8,000 homes in Kyiv region.

Energy repair teams are working at full capacity to restore damaged power lines, says the DTEK Kyiv Regional Power Grids operator, Ukrinform reports.

"Today, rain doesn’t stop in Kyiv region, with wind gusts of up to 20 mps. Due to adverse weather, eight 10 kV power lines are currently disconnected in the Bucha, Boryspil, Vyshhorod, Brovary, and Bila Tserkva districts. About 8,000 households are in blackout," reads the company statement.

DTEK assured residents that the repair units will respond to any additional disruptions throughout the day.

At the same time, the company urges citizens not to disregard safety rules and not to approach power lines in the event of their breach.

"Energy repair trams are doing everything possible to restore power supplies to all Ukrainian households as soon as possible," DTEK stressed.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, wind gusts of up to 30 mps are expected in the southern, eastern, and central parts of the country on Sunday, November 12.
