Odesa region may return to scheduled shutdowns on weekend - Ukrenergo

In Odesa and the region, a difficult situation with electricity supply remains in place following an accident at one of the Ukrenergo facilities. However, by the weekend, if there are no new attacks, a return to scheduled blackouts is expected.

This is reported by Ukrinform with reference to the Ukrenergo press service.

"Seven teams from Ukrenergo and one of our colleagues from JSC DTEK Odesa Electrical Grids are working around the clock to fix the damage. If no new enemy attacks occur, a return to the schedule of planned outages, which had been in effect until February 4, is expected over the weekend," the statement says.

The company added that emergency shutdowns are currently in place in Odesa and nearby areas. Repairs are also ongoing at all other substations affected by Russian attacks.

As reported, on February 4, 2023, at one of the substations run by NEC Ukrenergo in Odesa region, a technological breach occurred, which led to a fire. As of the morning of February 7, the share of consumer without power supply  in the city and district stands at about 58%.

Ukraine's energy system has already withstood 13 enemy missile attacks and 15 waves of UAV strikes on energy facilities. A significant generation shortage remains. The most difficult situation is in Donetsk, Kherson, and Kharkiv regions.
