The bodies of 132 civilians shot by the Russian military were found in the village of Makariv in Kyiv region.

"We have seen their [Russian troops’] atrocities in the liberated territories. As of yesterday, we found 132 civilians who had been shot dead by Russian orcs, I can't call them people," Makariv village head Vadym Tokar said during the nationwide telethon, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He said that houses in the village were bombed, a hospital, kindergartens and almost all infrastructure were destroyed.

"We have been without light, without water, without gas, without heat, without communication for more than a month. The communication was restored just a few days ago," said the mayor.

According to preliminary estimates, he noted, Makariv was destroyed by about 40%.

At the same time, he added: “We have [another] localities that were under the occupation. A locality of Andriyivka suffered even greater destructions. We just begin to document them.”

According to Tokar, electricity supply is being restored across the whole community in Makariv. The situation with gas supply is more complicated, as fields and forest belts were mined.

“And now we are working primarily to demine our territory and to fully get to the restoration of infrastructure. People now actively return home despite our calls not to do this so early,” said the mayor.

According to him, about 15,000 people used to live in Makariv, while less than a thousand people remained in the village during the active phase of defense.

Irpin, Bucha, Hostomel and the entire Kyiv region were liberated from Russian invaders in early April. Mass killings of civilians by the occupiers were recorded in the liberated towns and villages, infrastructure was destroyed, territories were mined.

On February 24, Russian president Putin declared war on Ukraine and launched a large-scale invasion. Russian troops shell and destroy infrastructure, massively fire on residential areas of Ukrainian cities, towns, and villages using artillery, MLRS, and ballistic missiles.
