Bad weather leaves 173 towns and villages in Ukraine without electricity

Adverse weather conditions have left 173 towns and villages in three regions of Ukraine without electricity, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine reports.

"As of 7:00 on December 11, bad weather conditions (rain, wet snow, wind gusts) caused blackouts in 173 populated areas in three regions, in particular: Kyiv region - 79 populated areas, Zhytomyr region – 58, and Chernivtsi region - 36,” the report says.

At the same time, the State Emergency Service reported referring to information from the State Road Agency that there were no traffic restrictions on main highways as of Friday morning.

Some 1,183 employees and 808 units of equipment from the State Road Agency were involved to ensure free passage along highways. Special units of the State Emergency Service towed 13 vehicles (provided assistance to 29 citizens). In total, 29 rescuers and 12 units of equipment from the State Emergency Service were involved in response operations.
