Criminal case opened over explosions at arms depots in Chernihiv region

The prosecutor's office has opened criminal proceedings under the article on negligence due to explosions at arms depots in Chernihiv region, the military prosecutor's office of the Central Region of Ukraine has reported on its Facebook page.

"At present, due to explosions, the military prosecutor's office of the Central Region of Ukraine has started criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Article 425 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (careless attitude to military service)," the statement reads.

A group of military prosecutors headed by the military prosecutor of the Central Region is working at the scene.

The pre-trial investigation was entrusted to the investigation department of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU) office in Chernihiv region. Procedural control is conducted by the military prosecutor's office of the Chernihiv garrison of the Central Region of Ukraine.

It was reported at 03.30 on Tuesday, October 9, that a fire broke out at the arms depots of military unit A1479 of the Ukrainian Armed Forces near the village of Druzhba in the Ichnia district of Chernihiv region. About 10,000 people have been evacuated from the scene of the incident.
