Emergency Service: 81 people drowned in Ukrainian waterways over past week

Eighty one people drowned in Ukrainian waterways on August 6-12, the State Emergency Service reports.

“Over the last week, 81 people were killed in the country’s waterways… On Sunday, August 12, 15 people drowned in waterways, including two children,” reads the report.

According to the Emergency Service, since the beginning of the year, the number of those drowned in Ukrainian waterways has already reached 874 people, including 88 children.

At the same time, 593 people who were in danger of drowning were rescued, including 110 children.
