Emergency Service: 45 people drowned in Ukraine over past week

45 people drowned in Ukrainian waterways and 8 people died from fires over the past week, the State Emergency Service reports.

“Over the past week, 1,429 fires were extinguished, 47 persons were rescued from fire, and fire was prevented from spreading to 388 buildings and 63 units of equipment,” reads the report.

At the same time, 8 persons died from fires. According to the latest data, estimated losses from fire make up about UAH 6.72 million.

During the last week, the pyrotechnic units of the State Emergency Service responded to 191 calls and disposed 1,519 explosive devices from the past wars.

Also, the State Emergency Service reported that 45 persons drowned in Ukrainian waterways during the recent week.

In general, the units of the Emergency Service responded to 1,904 accidents over the past week. As a result of these interventions, 71 persons were saved.
