Ukraine ready to help Greece fight wildfires

The Cabinet of Ministers is ready to provide the necessary assistance to Greece to combat large-scale wildfires near Athens, Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman has said.

Groysman said this to his Greek counterpart Alexis Tsipras, Ukrainian government press secretary Vasyl Riabchuk told an Ukrinform correspondent.

According to him, the Ukrainian premier sent a respective letter to Tsipras.

"The Government of Ukraine is ready to provide the necessary assistance to Greece to tackle the natural disaster," Groysman said, addressing the Greek prime minister.

He also stressed that Ukraine had learned with great sadness about the death of many people as a result of large-scale forest fires in the vicinity of the Greek capital Athens.

Groysman offered his condolences to the families of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
