Ukraine issues travel advisory for Zambian capital due to outbreak of cholera

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has recommended that Ukrainians refrain from visiting the capital of Zambia, Lusaka, due to the outbreak of cholera, reads a statement posted on the ministry's website. 

"Due to the outbreak of cholera in the Republic of Zambia, in particular, in the capital, Lusaka, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine recommends that Ukrainian citizens planning to travel to Zambia refrain from visiting the capital of the country, especially the Kwanyama district, until the epidemiological situation gets back to normal," reads the statement.

Ukrainians who already stay in Zambia are advised to exercise particular caution and adhere to the recommendations of local authorities, medical and other competent services, and monitor the latest news.

In case of detection of symptoms of the disease or other circumstances requiring an immediate consular response, the ministry recommends that Ukrainian citizens urgently contact Ukraine's Embassy in the Republic of South Africa by emergency number: (0027) 814806707, e-mail: consul_za@mfa.gov.ua
