About 2,500 people are annually killed on Ukraine’s roads, being one of the highest rates in the world.

Mykhailo Berlin, the chairman of board of the All-Ukrainian Partnership for Road Safety, said this at the press conference on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"According to the Health Ministry of Ukraine, about 2,500 people are annually killed on Ukraine’s roads, being one of the highest rates in the world," Berlin said.

He noted that, taking into account this situation, it is necessary to improve the driving culture in every possible way, to form the legal consciousness of all road users, to promote intolerance in society towards the facts of neglect of social and legal norms, especially on the roads.

In addition, Berlin said, Ukraine needs a law that would define the conditions of permitting Ukrainian citizens to drive a motor vehicle, particularly, for medical reasons.
