Health Ministry reports on decline in flu and acute respiratory infection rate

There has been a decline in the influenza and acute respiratory infection rate in Ukraine, Deputy Health Minister Roman Vasylyshyn has said.

“As of today, I would like to note that the situation with flu has been improved. There is no outbreak. The number of ill persons is decreasing,” he has told a press briefing on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

According to him, the epidemic threshold is not exceeded in any region of Ukraine.

Vasylyshyn also noted that medical experts gave various forecasts about the development of situation with flu and acute respiratory diseases for the near future.

“We will hope there will be no second wave. Although nobody can feel secured against it,” he said.

On the whole, according to him, a total of 329 people died of flu in Ukraine over the flu outbreak. “These are those [cases] that have been laboratory confirmed,” he added.
