Presidential Office not ruling out early local elections - Stefanchuk

The Ukrainian president's representative in the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, has said that the Presidential Office is considering holding early local elections in Ukraine.

He stated this on the Freedom of Speech program on ICTV channel on Monday, July 15.

"It will be done next autumn or it can be done before this. We are considering various options how to most effectively restart the entire system, which concerns relations between government and people," Stefanchuk said.

He added that the president's team was not interested in "changing people in the current government system."

"Volodymyr Zelensky has a clear understanding that we are not interested in changing people in the current government system. If you put a fresh cucumber in a barrel with pickled cucumbers, it will become a pickled cucumber," Stefanchuk said.
