Kyiv's Pechersky District Court has considered a lawsuit filed by the leader of the Movement of New Forces party, former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili, about establishing the fact of his residence in Ukraine so as to register him as an MP candidate in the July 21 snap elections, according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"The court has issued a fair ruling regarding my ability to participate in parliamentary elections. I'm one step closer to victory," Saakashvili said after the court decision was announced.

He stated on June 13 that he complied with all the rules of the law in order to serve as an MP, in particular, the clause on residence in Ukraine over the past five years.

On May 28, President Volodymyr Zelensky returned Ukrainian citizenship to Saakashvili. He is currently No. 1 on the ticket of his Movement of New Forces party.

According to the schedule of major organizational measures on preparing for and holding snap parliamentary elections in Ukraine on July 21, which was approved by the Central Election Commission, June 10 was the last day for political parties to nominate MP candidates.

The self-nomination of candidates running for parliament lasted until June 20.
