European Parliament mission travels to Kyiv to monitor elections

A delegation from the European Parliament will travel to Ukraine on Thursday to monitor the second round of the presidential elections scheduled for April 21.

The relevant report has been posted on the website of delegation’s member, MEP from Germany (the Green party) Rebecca Harms.

“Rebecca Harms, Eastern Europe expert and Member of the European Parliament, will travel to Kyiv on Thursday 18 April to lead the European Parliament Election Observation Mission, which is organized in co-operation with OSCE/ODIHR,” reads the report.

In particular, Rebecca Harms plans to attend the debate between the two presidential candidates on Friday evening. On Saturday, as expected, she will meet with the long-term observers, the presidential candidates, the members of the Electoral Commission, and representatives of the press, media and civil society. On Sunday, Rebecca Harms will visit polling stations in the city of Kyiv.

On April 22, Rebecca Harms plans to participate in the joint press conference of the heads of delegation of the OSCE/ODIHR, where she will present the preliminary post-election statement.
