Former world heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko has called on Ukrainian presidential candidates Petro Poroshenko and Volodymyr Zelensky to arrive at the Olimpiyskiy Stadium in Kyiv on Wednesday, April 10, to undergo medical tests.

He said this at a joint press conference with experts from the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA), according to an Ukrinform correspondent.

"I thank the candidates for president of Ukraine for their initiative to conduct such a doping test. I think this is the first time in world history that this is happening in Kyiv, Ukraine, when presidential candidates undergo doping tests. This is a unique and right initiative - both athletes and politicians must be clean and honest," Klitschko said.

According to him, it was funny to watch the candidates undergo tests, as "each of the candidates chose his laboratory and announced after a few hours that he is clean, tests were made, and all is well."

Klitschko emphasized that competent and professional testing is not possible in a couple of hours.

"I invited the organization Voluntary Anti-Doping Association, whose members are now here with us and they are working with another organization - World Anti-Doping Agency. These two organizations use the same laboratory and the same specialists who are professionals," Klitschko said.

Klitschko invited the candidates to come to the stadium between 15:00 and 18:00.

"I call on Ukrainian presidential candidates to voluntarily come to the Olimpiyskiy National Sports Complex between 15:00 and 18:00 and again take the tests in a competent organization and laboratory. Personally, I passed this test many times and I assure you that this test will be accurate," he said.

Earlier, at the request of Wladimir Klitschko, VADA experts agreed to conduct tests for Ukrainian presidential candidates Petro Poroshenko and Volodymyr Zelensky.

At the same time, Zelensky's campaign headquarters stated that he would not undergo medical tests for VADA representatives.

The second round of presidential elections in Ukraine will be held on April 21.
