About 25,000 Ukrainians ask to include them in list of voters abroad

"Thousands of our compatriots have exercised their right and filed the relevant applications for inclusion in the list [of voters]. A significant number of citizens appealed to our institutions abroad personally or sent documents by post to be registered by the consular department, on the basis of which the information was filed to the Central Election Commission. In general, about 3,000 applications were filed to the foreign diplomatic institutions for inclusion in the state register of voters and the data on consular registration of about 22,000 citizens was processed," Director of the Consular Service Department of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine Serhiy Pohoreltsev said at a briefing on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

He noted that according to the official data placed on the website of the state register of voters, the total number of voters abroad is currently more than 410,000 people.

He also reminded that 101 overseas polling stations in 72 countries of the world had been established for voting at the Ukrainian presidential elections.

"The elections will start at a foreign polling station in Australia at 23:00 Kyiv time on March 30. The presidential elections will be closed by the work of a polling station in San Francisco at 6:00 Kyiv time on April 1," Pohoreltsev said.
