Presidential candidates spend over UAH 1.2 bln on campaigns

The candidates for the position of the President of Ukraine have officially spent UAH 1.273 billion on their election campaigns.

"44 candidates for the position of the President of Ukraine have officially spent UAH 1.273 billion. The data is provided in accordance with the interim financial reports of the candidates on the use of the assets of the election funds, which were published on the website of the Central Election Commission of Ukraine on March 25," the Committee of Voters of Ukraine reports.

It is noted that the information in the interim reports covers the period from the opening of election funds until March 18, 2019. The candidates are expected to provide final financial reports after the election.

Most candidates spent money on the advertisement in the media. UAH 853 million in total was allocated for that.

"In percentage terms, the largest sums were spent on advertising in the media by: Yuri Karmazin (100% of all assets), Valentyn Nalyvaichenko (89%), Dmytro Dobrodomov (88%), Oleksandr Vilkul (87%), Yuri Boiko (85 %) and Serhiy Taruta (83%)," the Committee of Voters of Ukraine reports.

In absolute terms, the following candidates spent the largest sums on advertising: Petro Poroshenko (UAH 251 million), Yulia Tymoshenko (UAH 118 million), Oleksandr Vilkul (UAH 97 million), Serhiy Taruta (UAH 80 million), Volodymyr Zelensky (UAH 64 million), Oleh Liashko (UAH 59 million), Anatoly Hrytsenko (UAH 52 million). Yuri Boiko spent UAH 39 million on advertising, Oleksandr Shevchenko – UAH 34 million, Ruslan Koshulynsky – UAH 11 million, Yevhen Murayev – UAH 11 million, Andriy Sadovy – UAH 10 million.
