Record number of organizations to monitor presidential elections in Ukraine

Ukrinform
A record number of Ukrainian non-governmental organizations have registered as observers for the presidential elections in Ukraine, according to Natalia Bernatska, a member of the Central Election Commission (CEC).

She reminded that national non-governmental organizations and citizens from foreign countries or international organizations can be observers in Ukraine’s elections.

"This year an unprecedented number - 139 Ukrainian non-governmental organizations – have registered as observers. We were very strict in checking documents at the Central Election Commission: for us the key criterion is the actual fact of existence of organization and the fact that the statute [of organization] includes election observation," Bernatska told Hromadske.

About a thousand international observers have already been registered for presidential elections in Ukraine, the CEC member added.

The presidential election in Ukraine will take place on March 31, 2019.
