The Central Election Commission (CEC) has registered 16 more official observers for the March 31 presidential election in Ukraine from foreign countries - Japan and Poland, according to a report posted on the CEC website.

"The commission registered 16 official observers for the regular presidential election in Ukraine on March 31, 2019 – five from Japan, 11 from the Republic of Poland," the report says.

Thus, as of March 14, the CEC registered 699 official observers from ten international organizations and seven foreign states for the presidential election in Ukraine on March 31, 2019.

The presidential election campaign in Ukraine began on December 31, 2018.

On February 8, the CEC completed the registration of candidates for the post of head of state. In all, 44 candidates were registered. Five candidates later withdrew from the presidential race.
