Almost 40,000 Ukrainians changed place of voting - CEC

Almost 40,000 Ukrainians have temporarily changed voter's place of voting in the upcoming presidential elections without changing the voter's voting address.

Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) Tetiana Slipachuk stated this during a meeting with representatives of the CANADEM Election Observation Mission, the CEC press service reported.

“Now almost 40,000 Ukrainian citizens have exercised the right to change the place of voting, among them 57% are residents of Luhansk and Donetsk regions,” she said.

The CEC chairperson stressed that the process of changing voter's place of voting does not take much time.

She also recalled that Ukrainian citizens can temporarily change the place of voting until March 25.

In addition, during the meeting with representatives of the observation mission, Tetiana Slipachuk told about the process of district election commissions’ formation and training their members, the protection of the State Voter Register and the fight against false information in the media.

As reported, the presidential election campaign started on December 31, 2018. On February 8, the CEC completed the process of registration for the post of head of state in Ukraine's presidential election scheduled for March 31. A total of 44 presidential candidates were registered.

As of February 28, the CEC registered 399 official observers from international organizations and foreign countries in the upcoming presidential election.
