Ukraine is steadily developing a new defense industry ecosystem that encompasses not only finished products but also the components and subcomponents that support them.

Oleksii Hrebin, CEO of the Ukrainian company Motor-G, which produces electric motors for drones, shared this view in an interview with Ukrinform at the international defense exhibition SAHA 2026 in Istanbul.

“Four years ago, the demand for drones was only beginning to take shape. At that time, almost no one produced components. But as demand grew, drone manufacturers appeared, followed by component producers, and then subcomponent manufacturers. Step by step, a new production ecosystem for the defense industry is being formed,” Hrebin said.

According to him, Ukraine’s defense industry is moving beyond the model of simple assembly of finished products.

“We are demonstrating that the Ukrainian defense industry is not just about final products, but a whole ecosystem — both the finished product and the components that go into it,” he noted.

Motor-G CEO emphasized that building this ecosystem opens prospects for Ukraine’s future economic growth.

“We are still at the beginning of this path. If we stay on course, Ukraine’s economy and production capacity will have a very promising future,” he stressed.

He added that Ukraine is showing a high level of reliability and adaptability in the global defense market, with products meeting the demands of modern combat thanks to rapid modifications based on frontline requirements.

As Ukrinform reported, the Ukrainian Council of Defense Industry showcased a joint national stand at the SAHA 2026 exhibition in Istanbul last week, featuring 13 exhibiting companies and two additional participants in a business visitor format.
