Government allocates additional UAH 3B from reserve fund for road repairs

Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko announced this on Telegram, Ukrinform reports.

"At a government meeting, we reviewed the state of repairs of national highways. […] We also discussed financing and identified sources to cover the relevant needs. First and foremost, this concerns the available financial resources of the state budget. Additional funds are being drawn from the reserve fund, from which the first tranche of UAH 3 billion is already being allocated," the statement said.

According to Svyrydenko, organizational decisions were also approved to ensure the necessary financial resources, combined with co-financing from local budgets and the use of state guarantee mechanisms.

Over the past week, more than 155,000 square meters of road surface have been repaired on international and national highways. The main focus has been on pothole repairs in frontline regions and on roads with heavy traffic. More than 1,100 road workers have been involved in the work.

The Ministry for Communities and Territories Development, together with the State Agency for Infrastructure Restoration and Development, has been tasked with significantly increasing the pace of work over the next two weeks in order to ensure safe travel along key routes as quickly as possible.

Earlier reports said that at least UAH 10 billion in additional funding was to be allocated from the reserve fund to support road repairs.
