Ukraine planning to inject 13 billion cubic meters of gas into storage by winter – Shmyhal
This was stated by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal following a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine (NSDC) dedicated to preparations for the heating season, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“A key element of preparing for winter is injecting gas into storage facilities. This will amount to at least 13 billion cubic meters,” Shmyhal said.
He noted that, in terms of gas availability, Ukraine is getting through the current heating season in a stable manner. In addition, imports of “blue fuel” are ongoing.
“The President and the Prime Minister have tasked us with working, at the next ‘energy Ramstein,’ on securing more than €5 billion to prepare Ukraine for the next heating season,” the minister said.
According to Shmyhal, work on this issue will continue throughout the first half of March.
As reported earlier, the Naftogaz Group will for the first time import liquefied natural gas from the United States to Ukraine via a terminal at the Port of Klaipėda. In addition, gas supplies through a terminal in Germany were carried out for the first time in February.
