Shmyhal shows European partners consequences of shelling of TPP in Kyiv
According to Ukrinform, this was reported by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal on Telegram.
"We visited one of the thermal power plants in Kyiv together with our international partners. I am grateful for the visit on the fourth anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion. Today we are joined by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President António Costa, Finnish President Stubb, the heads of government of Denmark, Estonia, Iceland, Latvia, Norway, Croatia, Sweden, ministers, and other high-ranking guests," Shmyhal wrote.
He noted that the thermal power plant provided heat to 500,000 people in Kyiv. Since the start of the full-scale invasion, Russia has attacked it 13 times, with nine attacks occurring in the last six months.
“And in early February, five ballistic missiles flew here, and heat production stopped. More than 1,100 apartment buildings, 118 schools and kindergartens, and 18 hospitals were left without heating,” the minister said.
He also said that more than 40 countries and organizations are supporting Ukraine's energy sector this winter. In 2025, about €600 million was mobilized through the Ukraine Energy Support Fund. During the full-scale war, Ukraine has received more than 2,000 humanitarian aid shipments for the energy sector.
As reported, since February 24, 2022, the aggressor has carried out at least 64 massive attacks on Ukraine's energy sector, using 12,700 drones and 2,900 missiles.
