Svyrydenko, Berset discuss opening of CoE Development Bank office in Ukraine

As reported by Ukrinform, Svyrydenko said this in a post on Telegram.

“The focus of the discussion was on the crimes Russia is committing against our people and Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. In this context, we discussed progress toward launching the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine, as well as the International Compensation Commission, which will assess and decide on claims submitted to the Register of Damage caused to Ukraine by the terrorist state,” the head of government said.

Svyrydenko thanked Berset for his efforts to prepare a new Council of Europe Action Plan for Ukraine for 2027–2030, which will allow the continuation of projects in the areas of justice, democratic governance, adaptation to EU legislation, and the protection of internally displaced persons.

They also separately addressed the issue of returning all Ukrainian children illegally deported and forcibly displaced by Russia.

Svyrydenko highlighted the activities of the Council of Europe Development Bank in addressing Ukraine’s urgent social needs, particularly financial assistance in the healthcare and housing sectors for the most vulnerable communities, as well as for countries hosting Ukrainians.

“We support the initiative to open a Bank office in Ukraine, which will help strengthen our cooperation and launch new projects to address people’s social needs,” the Prime Minister emphasized.

As Ukrinform previously reported, First Deputy Prime Minister and Energy Minister Denys Shmyhal discussed Russia’s war crimes and compensation for damage inflicted on Ukraine during a meeting in Kyiv with Secretary General of the Council of Europe Alain Berset.
