Russians attack substations and power lines forming backbone of Ukraine's power grid and two TPPs, Shmyhal says
According to Ukrinform, First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal announced this on Telegram.
According to him, “Russian perpetrators carried out another massive attack on Ukraine's energy facilities.”
The attack targeted substations and 750 kV and 330 kV overhead lines, which form the backbone of Ukraine's power grid. The enemy also struck power generation facilities: the Burshtyn and Dobrotvir thermal power plants.
Nuclear power plant units were unloaded by personnel. As of now, 4.5-5 stages of emergency power outage schedules have been implemented throughout Ukraine, and special emergency outage schedules have been implemented in the eastern and northern regions.
The attack continues. Energy workers are ready to begin restoration as soon as the security situation allows, Shmyhal emphasized.
He added that Ukrenergo's dispatcher has initiated an emergency assistance request to Poland.
As reported by Ukrinform, on February 7, the Russians carried out another missile and drone attack on Ukraine.
