Estonia's Ministry of Climate will contribute EUR 2 million to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund to help restore the country's energy infrastructure.

That is according to ERR, Ukrinform reports.

The ministry's press service noted that covering peak demand during the coming winter will not be possible without international assistance.

"Estonia's support for Ukraine is consistent and long-term. For Ukraine, energy is not merely an economic sector, but a matter of survival. Every restored substation, every functioning generator means a warm home, an operating hospital, and a functioning society. Estonia's support helps Ukraine cope with the potential challenges of the upcoming winter," said Minister of Energy and the Environment Andres Sutt.

The funds allocated to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund will help cover the most urgent needs of Ukrainian energy companies, including the procurement of spare parts, generators, and fuel supplies, as well as emergency repair works.

Estonia has previously contributed EUR 620,000 to the Fund through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs: EUR 50,000 in 2023, EUR 420,000 in 2024, and EUR 150,000 in October this year. Altogether, countries have contributed EUR 1.44 billion to the Fund, the ministry said.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, Latvia recently announced the allocation of EUR 200,000 to the Ukraine Energy Support Fund.
