Investigation carried out in one of Energoatom’s branches
According to Ukrinform, this was announced by the company’s press service.
“Energoatom informs that on November 4, an investigation was carried out in one of the company’s separate divisions. The company is cooperating with the investigators and providing all necessary documents and explanations. Energoatom is interested in a comprehensive, objective, and transparent investigation of the circumstances that led to these procedural actions,” the statement reads.
The company did not specify the reason for the investigative actions. At the same time, it emphasized that all Energoatom’s separate divisions continue to operate, ensuring stable electricity generation for Ukrainian users.
As reported, on November 4, one of the defendants in the case involving the misappropriation of 100 million hryvnias during the construction of a spent nuclear fuel storage facility was extradited from Germany.
In December 2020, Atomproektengineering, a separate division within Energoatom’s structure, signed a contract bypassing open tenders with a pre-selected private company to complete the construction of the centralized spent nuclear fuel storage facility. Additional agreements later increased the contract’s value threefold from 421 million hryvnias to 1.497 billion hryvnias. The investigation established the involvement of Energoatom officials and managers of the private company in this crime.
