Naftogaz and Western partners allocate $2.5B to purchase gas for Ukraine
This was reported to Ukrinform by the press service of the oil and gas company.
“The state-owned Naftogaz Group has allocated USD 1 billion of its own funds to purchase gas for the winter. Another USD 1.5 billion has been raised to import gas from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the Norwegian government, and other international financial institutions,” the statement said.
Serhiy Koretsky, chairman of the board of Naftogaz of Ukraine, noted that in February of this year, 42% of Ukrainian gas production was destroyed as a result of enemy attacks. He stressed that before the heating season, the enemy is likely to attack the gas infrastructure again, and this is terrorism in its purest form.
Koretsky said that Naftogaz has already contracted 95% of the gas needed to start the heating season.
As reported, the Naftogaz Group, in partnership with Poland's ORLEN, has already delivered about 400 million cubic meters of American liquefied gas to Ukraine in preparation for the winter of 2025-2026.
Earlier it was reported that Naftogaz and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development signed a record agreement for Ukraine to purchase gas worth EUR 500 million. This is the first time such a loan has been provided under an EU guarantee.
