Between January and July 2025, agricultural production in Ukraine dropped by 18.5% compared to the same period last year.

According to Ukrinform, this was reported on Facebook by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine.

“This decline is primarily due to reduced crop production. The main reasons include the seasonal nature of crop farming and unfavorable weather conditions, which led to delayed harvesting of grain and oilseed crops and lower yields,” the statement said.

Experts estimate that the agricultural production index for January–July 2025 stood at 81.5% compared to the same period in 2024. Among the different sectors, crop production was hit hardest, falling to 74.5%, while livestock farming showed more stability, with an index of 95.3%.

The decline was more severe among agricultural enterprises, where output dropped to 77.7% of last year’s level over the seven-month period. Household farms performed better, maintaining 89.7% of last year’s volume.

At the same time, some regions reported growth in agricultural output. Farmers in the Zaporizhzhia, Zakarpattia, and Odesa regions managed to surpass last year’s levels. The Mykolaiv region emerged as the leader, with an agricultural production index reaching 106.7%.

However, significant declines were recorded in the Khmelnytskyi region (46.3% of last year’s figure) and Donetsk region (47.8%).

As previously reported, overall agricultural output in Ukraine is projected to increase by 3% this year compared to 2024.
