Microelectronics imports to Russia on decline amid sanctions - expert

Russia sanctions have affected the flow of microelectronics and other valuable components into the aggressor state.

That’s according to Vladyslav Vlasiuk, the adviser to the head of the President’s Office, Secretary of the Yermak-McFaul international sanctions group, who spoke in an interview with Ukrinform’s Serhiy Leshchenko.

"Sanctions have the effect of reducing the amount of microelectronics and other valuable components coming into Russia. Microelectronics is something that Russia is practically incapable of producing, and if it is, it is extremely scarce and of low quality. At the same time, missiles, drones, and other systems require high-quality equipment and electronics. Therefore, this is critical," Vlasiuk emphasized.

He said that the missiles launched by Russia over Ukraine are being analyzed in detail and the origin of the relevant components is being tracked. After that, the relevant agencies, including in partner countries, are informed, the expert noted.

"Then they start applying the law. Now the issue of compliance by partners with the existing bans remains in place," noted the secretary of the Yermak-McFaul international sanctions group.

As Ukrinform reported earlier, U.S. sanctions imposed on Russia had a serious impact on Moscow’s plans to develop exports of liquefied natural gas.
