Germany will allocate an additional EUR 200 million for the recovery of Ukraine.

Jochen Flasbarth, State Secretary in Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, announced this in Kyiv on Friday, Ukrinform reports with reference to dpa.

According to him, the funds are intended for education, healthcare and the supply of drinking water, as well as for the reconstruction of cities.

He noted that since the start of Russia’s war of aggression in February 2022, the Ministry has already allocated about EUR 1 billion for civilian support.

Vice Prime Minister for the Restoration of Ukraine – Minister for Communities and Territories Development and Infrastructure Development Oleksandr Kubrakov posted on the social network X following the meeting: “A productive discussion… We reviewed the main progress in our cooperation and discussed potential plans. Among the main topics: organization of the Ukraine Recovery Conference 2024 Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin, implementing more energy efficient and green technologies when rebuilding Ukraine, extending and strengthening our joint work through the Multidonor Coordination Platform”.

Germany’s Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection Steffi Lemke also arrived in Kyiv on Friday for talks on environmental recovery.

"Minister for the Environment Steffi Lemke is in Kyiv today for talks on environmental recovery, for which the Federal Ministry offers support. Russia’s war of aggression is also destroying nature and the environment, which endangers the livelihoods of Ukrainians in the acute and long term, such as drinking water,” the report says.
