Construction work to restore the destroyed Kakhovka hydroelectric power plant after the area is liberated will take about six years.

That’s according to the national operator, PJSC Ukrhydroenergo, Ukrinform reports.

"It will take two years to develop an experimental project for the reconstruction of the Kakhovka HPP. The first stage also involves designing a temporary reservoir dam. [...] The actual construction of the Kakhovka HPP itself will take about six years," the report says.

It is also noted that now the company's hydroelectric plants are preparing for the heating season. In particular, scheduled repair works and reconstruction of hydropower equipment are carried out at the facilities.

As reported, Ukrhydroenergo plans that the restored Kakhovka HPP will have a capacity of up to 550-600 MW instead of the 340 MW that the HPP generated previously.

In July, the Cabinet of Ministers passed a resolution on the implementation of an experimental project starting with the reconstruction of the Kakhovka HPP. It is foreseen that the project can be financed at the expense of the Ukrhydroenergo budget, credit funds, and other sources not prohibited by law.
