On the night of July 19, about 60,000 tonnes of grain were destroyed in the Chornomorsk port as a result of Russian shelling of the port infrastructure involved in the grain initiative.

Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solskyi stated this, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

He noted that the grain that was destroyed by Russians should have been loaded onto a large-tonnage ship and sent through the grain corridor.

According to Solskyi, the night strike disabled a significant part of the grain export infrastructure of the Chornomorsk port. At the same time, according to experts' estimates, it will take at least a year to fully restore the objects damaged on the night of July 19.

"The grain infrastructure of international and Ukrainian traders and carriers Kernel, Viterra, CMA CGM Group was the most affected. This is a terrorist act not against Ukraine but against the whole world. Food security is again at risk. Humanity is being held hostage by a terrorist country that is blackmailing the whole world with famine. The world must react harshly and in accordance with the situation," the minister said.

The head of the ministry of agriculture reminded that when Ukraine cannot export food, the population of the poorest countries will be on the verge of survival. In addition, the economy of not only Ukraine but also the world will suffer. The price of grain will rise, and not all countries will be able to afford to buy agricultural products.
