Ukraine imports electricity from Poland through updated line

For the first time, Ukraine imported electricity from Poland via an interstate power line, which Ukrenergo modernized and switched on in May 2023.

The company's press service reports this on Telegram, according to Ukrinform.

"On July 16, for the first time, electricity was imported from Poland to Ukraine via an interstate power line, which Ukrenergo successfully modernized and switched on in May 2023. The power system received an additional 800 MW of capacity from 20:00 to 23:00, during the period of the highest consumption," the statement said.

Ukrenergo clarified that imports from Slovakia and Moldova with a maximum capacity of up to 350 MW continued throughout the day, mainly in the afternoon and evening hours. For July 17, imports from Slovakia from 17:00 to 23:00 are planned to reach 340 MW, and from Moldova - up to 3 MW.

As reported, more than 400 settlements in Ukraine remain without power due to the fighting and bad weather. Power engineers continue restoration work where possible.
