Spain will allocate EUR 55 million to Ukraine to finance small and medium-sized enterprises and to provide schools with ecologically clean energy systems.

"Today, Spain decided to allocate an additional EUR 55 million, including EUR 51 million through the World Bank Group, to finance small and medium-sized enterprises of Ukraine, as well as EUR 4 million through the United Nations Development Programme to provide schools in Ukraine with environmentally friendly and sustainable energy systems," Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sánchez said, addressing the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ukrinform reports.

He emphasized that the reconstruction of Ukraine will require time and investments in many sectors. Spain seeks to accompany Ukraine in some areas, such as, for example, railway infrastructure, in which Spanish companies have certain know-how.

"The Government of Spain will support the financing of the necessary investments for the adaptation and modernization of the Ukrainian infrastructure and production industries," Spain’s Prime Minister said.

As reported, Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sánchez arrived in Ukraine on the first day of the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
