A meeting of deputy defense ministers of Türkiye, Ukraine, Russia and UN officials to discuss the operation of the "grain corridor" has started in Istanbul.

"Today, a meeting of the deputy defense ministers of Türkiye, Russia, Ukraine and representatives of the UN has started in Istanbul. We continue our negotiations so that this activity [‘grain corridor’] does not stop and that stability is maintained," said Turkish National Defense Minister Hulusi Akar, Ukrinform reports with reference to the Ministry of National Defense of Türkiye.

The minister emphasized that Türkiye is the only country in the world that can maintain communication with both Ukraine and Russia.

"Everyone should see what practical value it adds to both regional and world peace. Thanks to the Black Sea Grain Agreement, which we signed on July 22, 30 million tonnes of grain have been transported to the needy," Akar emphasized.

As reported, earlier Türkiye announced the resumption of the "grain corridor".
