Mykolaiv is developing a new master plan to revive the city with the support of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe. The project was presented at a bilateral conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine in Rome.

That's according to the Mykolaiv City Council, Ukrinform reports.

"In Mykolaiv, with the support of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, a new master plan is being developed, which will become the basis for the revival of Mykolaiv and will determine the direction of the city's development for the coming decades. The results of the team's work were presented at a bilateral conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine held in Rome," the statement said.

It is noted that Italy has officially joined the group of states that are preparing to help Ukraine in its recovery. At the invitation of the Italian government, projects to restore Mykolaiv were presented at the meeting.

"The city's master plan today can be an extraordinary catalyst for responding and setting priorities to guide policy and investment nationwide. The better we use the time available, the more effectively we can build a model of an inclusive, integrated, and sustainable city that guarantees a better future for its residents," said Giulio Di Carli, Managing Partner of One Works.

He also noted the high level of Mykolaiv's digitalization expertise. A few years ago, the city developed a geographic information system, the data of which is successfully used by Italian specialists.

According to Giulio Di Carli, Mykolaiv can become an ideal model for rebuilding on the principle of "better than it was" and infrastructure development, which will then spread to other Ukrainian and European cities.

As reported, the Italian architectural company One Works, together with a team of international and local experts, is developing a new Master Plan for the city of Mykolaiv.
